(PRESS RELEASE) VISTA, CA — California Cat Kitchen, a new sister brand to California Dog Kitchen, announced a vegetable-free, gently cooked frozen food line for adult cats. The retail-ready frozen cat food line is designed for independent pet retailers and will be available in 5-ounce tubs at a suggested retail price of $7.

The brand soft-launched its website May 19 at www.californiacatkitchen.com, with direct-to-consumer shipping scheduled to begin July 15 and distributor shipments scheduled to begin Aug. 1.

California Cat Kitchen and California Dog Kitchen are sister brands under parent company Dog Kitchen, LLC. Both brands are registered DBAs of Dog Kitchen, LLC. California Cat Kitchen was co-founded by brothers Ilya Altshteyn, CEO, and Sasha Altshteyn, COO.

“Cats are carnivores, so we wanted to build California Cat Kitchen around simple, meat-forward recipes without vegetables,” said Ilya Altshteyn, co-founder and CEO of California Cat Kitchen. “Our goal is to make clean, gently cooked food for cats in a format that feels familiar, convenient and easy to feed.”

The launch includes two recipes: Beef & Pollock and Chicken & Salmon. Both recipes use wild-caught fish and are available in two textures: smooth and ground. Both recipes, in both textures, are formulated to meet the nutritional levels established by the AAFCO Cat Food Nutrient Profiles for adult maintenance.

“We were able to leverage our existing cooked, frozen pet food production line to make these new products with almost no additional investment,” said Sasha Altshteyn, co-founder and COO of California Cat Kitchen.

The products are cooked, frozen and packaged in a 5-ounce tub format produced by Huhtamaki. The cup-style packaging gives the line a distinctive presentation compared with many fresh and frozen pet foods, while the $7 MSRP gives retailers a clear single-serve price point for the fresh frozen cat food set.

California Cat Kitchen products are made in the company’s FDA-registered pet food manufacturing facility in Vista. The company plans to sell direct-to-consumer online and through independent pet retailers. To support retail expansion, California Cat Kitchen is in discussions with several existing distribution partners across the Pacific Northwest, California, Arizona, Colorado and the East Coast.
