Meet The 2026 Pets+ America’s Coolest Contest Winners
Nine independent pet businesses earn the America’s Coolest title this year, each one getting there in its own distinct way.

As the PETS+ America’s Coolest contest has proven, there are many different ways for a pet business to be “cool.” This year makes that even more clear. Among the winners are a farm, lawn-and-garden, and pet store celebrating 100 years and a move to employee ownership; a 673-square-foot dog shop that rebuilt after a flood and reinvented itself with a catnip dispensary; and a business with an attention to detail that turns a trip to buy pet supplies into a joyful experience. You’ll find those three winners profiled on these pages, and the remaining six will be featured in upcoming issues through May-Jun 2027.
One note on this year’s contest: Again, the competition was fierce! The PETS+ team narrowed the entries to 25 semi-finalists, each of them worthy of the America’s Coolest title, and then sent the top-scoring 14 to our panel of industry judges. (Meet them below.) We hope the businesses that didn’t place will enter again in 2027. As two of this year’s winners can attest, sometimes the second year’s the charm.
Finally, a big thank you to 2026 America’s Coolest sponsor SUPERZOO, which will provide an amazing SUPERZOO prize package to our winners: three nights at the Luxor Hotel, plus VIP Buyer benefits, and education passes for retail and grooming sessions. They also get to judge this year’s New Product Showcase Awards!
