Pets Are Home Launches Justbirthdays.com, A Brand Built Entirely Around Pet Birthdays

(PRESS RELEASE) LAS VEGAS — Pets Are Home, an independently owned pet store, announced the launch of JustBirthdays.com, a new brand dedicated entirely to celebrating pets’ birthdays. The brand is unveiling its debut collection — a line of birthday-themed plush toys for dogs and cats — today at SuperZoo, the pet industry’s largest trade show, held at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas.

JustBirthdays.com was created by the same team that owns and runs Pets Are Home. After noticing a steady stream of customers coming in specifically to ask for pet birthday toys, the store’s owners dug into their own point-of-sale data and found that 6.5% of all transactions were tied to customers seeking birthday-related products for their pets. When they looked for an established brand built around that occasion, they found none. JustBirthdays.com was created to fill that gap.

“We saw it happen right at the counter, over and over: people coming in and asking, do you have anything for a dog’s birthday? And there was nothing to point them to,” said Aki, of Pets Are Home. “We pulled our own sales numbers and realized this wasn’t a one-off ask, it was over six percent of our transactions, in a category with no dedicated brand anywhere in the industry. That’s when we decided to build one ourselves.”

The debut JustBirthdays.com collection focuses on plush toys designed specifically for dog and cat birthdays, giving pet parents and retailers a dedicated option for an occasion that, until now, has been served by generic products or none at all. The brand plans to expand the line based on retailer and customer response at SuperZoo and beyond.
