• Some observations at SUPERZOO: Last year’s complaining about “too many bundles” seems to have been heard. There were way fewer this year. Hooray! It was disappointing to see a small handful of vendors crank up minimum orders for any discount, though, especially when they were giving away tons of product to influencers, but would only give stores samples/freebies if they placed an order that hit that minimum. I flew across the country and have loyally supported your brand for a decade, but you’ll give $50 in free product to someone with 10k Instagram followers? I’m still astonished that some brands bring empty packaging, and don’t have their actual product to be seen, held, smelled and examined. • Vendors, distributors and manufacturers need to stop offering a discount to people who don’t go to SUPERZOO. What is the incentive to go to the shows if you can get the same specials sitting on your couch or in the office? Industry Thoughts

• We have been navigating the latest regulatory rules in our state around CBD sales for pets. It’s been an absolute mess, and seemingly for no good reason. Many manufacturers have stopped selling their products in Oregon, so we are scrambling to find replacements. This all happened right before July 4th, of course, so we had to sell CBD on the down-low to get dogs and cats the support they needed to make it through the fireworks. We have since gotten our license to sell CBD, good for one year, but we still can’t get several of the products from distributors or manufacturers because they are waiting on compliance paperwork and labeling. — Molly Lewis, Dog River Pet Supplies, Hood River, OR
