Wag Heaven Awarded Amex Shop Small Grants Program
(PRESS RELEASE) GEORGETOWN, TX — American Express and Main Street America announced Wag Heaven as one of the recipients of the Amex Shop Small Grants Program. This grant program reflects the shared commitment of American Express and Main Street America to champion small businesses that strengthen communities and help local economies thrive, enabling recipients to grow and innovate by expanding operations, investing in critical upgrades, introducing new offerings and strengthening their local communities.
“I know that this program is very competitive, and Wag Heaven is the first and only business in Georgetown that has been awarded one of these grants, so this is very exciting!” says Kim McAuliffe, Downtown & Tourism Director for the City of Georgetown. “This investment not only celebrates the incredible work Wag Heaven does for pets, their owners, and area shelters, but also highlights the important role small businesses play in creating vibrant and connected communities.”
“At Main Street America, we believe that supporting entrepreneurs and small businesses builds community wealth and a culture of innovation — yet far too often, this vision isn’t realized due to a variety of factors, including lack of access to resources and funding,” said Erin Barnes, President and CEO, Main Street America.
“We strive to be a reflection of our community,” says Jusak Yang Bernhard, Co-Owner of Wag Heaven. “We have been able to assist our local organizations and animal shelters, including the Williamson County Sheriff’s K-9 Unit, the City of Georgetown’s Fire Department, Sun City Pet Club, Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter, Living Grace Canine Ranch for senior dogs, Harley’s Angels Sanctuary for dogs and cats, Ride On Center for Kids equine-assisted services, and Brookwood in Georgetown for adults with disabilities” continues Jeff Manley, husband and business partner of Wag Heaven.
Wag Heaven also works closely with the Special Education Departments of Georgetown Independent School District and the Texas Workforce Commission’s work experience programs for high school students and adults with disabilities.
The 2026 grant recipients reflect the vitality of U.S. small businesses, representing a range of industries including retail, food service, health care and professional services. $10 million has been distributed to over 500 small businesses across the country. Each recipient has received a $20,000 grant.
