Pirro Confident Armed Man At Whcd Targeted Trump
U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro on Sunday appeared confident that the Justice Department will be able to prove “beyond a reasonable doubt” that the armed man at the White House Correspondents' Dinner was attempting to assassinate President Donald Trump.
Speaking to Jake Tapper on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Pirro said the alleged gunman’s manifesto made it “very clear” who the intended target was.
“Did he really want to kill the president? I can tell you we will be able to prove that beyond a reasonable doubt,” said Pirro, who was at the April 25 event. “The one issue that people might think about is: Is he insane? He is far from insane. He is brilliant. He has a master's degree. He worked at a NASA jet propulsion laboratory. This is a guy who had no psychotic break.”
The alleged gunman, Cole Tomas Allen, remains in custody as he faces three counts, including attempting to assassinate the president.
However, Tapper pointed out that no administration officials were explicitly named as targets in the purported manifesto.
Instead, Tapper said, the manifesto clearly states FBI Director Kash Patel is not a target and declares, “I am no longer willing to permit a pedophile, rapist and traitor to coat my hands with his crimes.”
Pirro appeared displeased with Tapper for reading the manifesto aloud.
“First of all, that's outrageous,” she said. “I mean, there's a lot of other things you could have referred to. This guy is a hater. He hates Trump so much. He wants to kill him.”
“Is he talking about Trump in that?” Tapper asks.
“You're going to have to ask him that,” Pirro replied.
