Trump Calls On Jeanine Pirro To ‘re-visit’ Reflecting Pool Case

President Donald Trump is calling on Washington U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro to take another look at her decision to drop charges against a former Olympian accused of vandalizing the Reflecting Pool.

In a Truth Social post Friday afternoon, the president called on Pirro — a longtime ally and former Fox News host — to “re-visit her hastily made decision,” not to pursue a case against David Hearn, one of several people accused of damaging the lining of the Washington landmark that had been refurbished at the direction of the Trump administration.

The federal judge overseeing the case left the door open for such a maneuver a day earlier, when he dismissed the case but declined to rule on whether the government could resurrect it later.

Prosecutors moved to dismiss the case after determining that evidence of shoddy work on the reflecting pool’s blue lining made it difficult to prove that damage sustained by the memorial was the fault of vandals. Bits of the lining began floating in the pool shortly after it reopened ahead of the July 4 celebration in Washington.

“People were on their knees with their hands in the water at the exact location of the ‘slashes,’” the president wrote in his Truth Social post. “Additionally, there were witnesses to the VANDALISM, and the flexible areas of the material were cut with a knife.”

The president has railed against Pirro in recent days, grousing to reporters that he thought she “choked” under pressure and saying he hadn’t “made a determination” about her fate. Interior Secretary Doug Burgum, whose department oversees the pool, has also insisted that vandals cut up the pool lining.
