Building A Workplace Where People Flourish (with Landon Hobson)
Landon Hobson is the CEO of Cosmos Corporation, a family business outside St. Louis that makes pet care and household cleaning products sold in 70 countries. With degrees in theology and economics, Landon never expected to run a 250,000-square-foot manufacturing plant—until his father-in-law asked him to take over the company, and he sensed that God had been preparing him for exactly that.
Landon describes how his faith shapes Cosmos’s culture: tuition support for any degree an employee wants to pursue, a “Better Book Club” that pays people to read, five paid mission days a year, and a core value of being “willing to make the coffee” for the person behind you.
He answers hard questions about whether making dog shampoo really matters to God, and he speaks candidly about the hard years—supply chain disruptions, a drop in sales, and layoffs of people he cared about. He also explains why CEOs need pastors who aren’t passive, and what he has gained from a group of believing business leaders who share the same struggles.
