2026-27 Fantasy Basketball Mock Draft: Pick 11 Strategy, Sleepers & Adp Values

Fantasy basketball draft season is here, and there's no better way to prep for the 2026-27 NBA season than a mock draft. In this 12-team, category-league mock, I drafted from the 11th pick near the turn, anchoring my roster with Cooper Flagg and Tyrese Haliburton before reaching for some of my favorite sleepers, including Kel'el Ware, Khaman Maluach and Jalen Suggs. Below, I break down my draft strategy, biggest reaches and roto versus H2H outlook, plus the most notable fantasy ADP risers and fallers, like Anthony Davis, Jalen Brunson and Paolo Banchero. Often, I use mocks to test out different draft strategies. In this one, I opted to reach for some of my favorite sleepers to see how they would look together on one team. Drafting around the turn can necessitate that strategy, though. If I hadn't drafted Kyrie Irving at pick 4.2, for example, I would have needed to risk him coming back to me 21 picks later. If you're drafting in the middle, it's easier to let the draft come to you. That's frequently a position that yields great value relative to ADP if you're patient and understand the board.

It's easy for me to say I like my team. These are a lot of "my guys." But this was a strong draft room. It'd be difficult for me to say with any confidence that I have the best team or got the best values. I also didn't lean into a punt build. I do think Flagg is well-rounded enough not to necessitate an early punt strategy. Typically a manager would consider punting 3s with him, but I got caught up in the value of Haliburton at the 2.2 and was also considering Kevin Durant. Neither of those guys are really punt 3s considerations, and it wrong-footed me on trying to achieve a specific build. I probably built a better roto team than an H2H one.

Let's briefly discuss some of my bigger reaches. I took Ware in Round 5 when he typically goes in Round 7. At this point in the draft, I did not have a center. So I was committed to getting two with my Round 5 and 6 picks. The biggest issue for Ware in 2025-26 was not his full-season production. It was his day-to-day, week-to-week role fluctuation. Managers couldn't start or bench him with confidence. Maybe Ware doesn't reach the proverbial 30 minutes per game in Milwaukee, but I expect a more consistent role, which goes a long way.

Jalen Suggs is a Round 11 ADP who I took in Round 9. Suggs falls due to his well-documented injury history. I'm not expecting a fully healthy season. But Suggs is a crucial piece of the Magic and an elite defensive guard who has proven top-40 per-game upside. In my eyes, that's a fine gamble to take in Round 9.

Khaman Maluach doesn't have accurate ADP data since Mark Williams was hurt recently, and not enough drafts have happened yet to push the second-year big up the board. Following an impressive Summer League, I'm in on Maluach. It's not a lock that he's the starter – Oso Ighodaro has proven to have great chemistry with the starters – but Maluach has a good shot to earn minutes in the mid-20s every night. From a statistical standpoint, he has a similar profile to someone like Kel'el Ware – lob dunks, rebounds, blocks and some 3s from the center spot.

Most Notable Risers

Anthony Davis, Washington Wizards (Pick 19, ADP 41.4)

I'm surprised Davis' ADP is this far down the board. I'm not sure actually I've seen him fall to pick 40 in any mock I've done so far. He seems to settle in the 24-30 range. But even with that being the case, he still qualifies as a reach here. The per-game upside is undeniable, as are the injury history and age, making him a risk/reward gamble year after year. It also remains a bit unclear what AD's future with the franchise is, which adds another risk layer. But if you want him with certainty, around pick 19 is probably where you'll have to take him. I don't trust that he'll get back to you in the 3rd or 4th round. Pick 19 is not where I'd personally take him, save for shallower leagues where the waiver wire is better and it's easier to deal with missed games from star players.

Darius Garland, LA Clippers (Pick 51, ADP 66.1)

This draft took place shortly after we learned that Brandon Ingram has a partially torn Achilles and will be sitting out an undetermined early portion of the season. So it makes sense that Garland was a reach relative to ADP. But I've seen him go earlier than pick 51. Garland is stepping in as the lead playmaker for a Clippers team that already had one of the most barren depth charts before the Ingram news. Garland will be asked to do a lot, and I wouldn't be surprised if this were the best year of his career from a points-plus-assists perspective. He comes with risk due to an injury history. Additionally, the Clippers don't have their pick next year, so they aren't playing the new lottery odds. There's not a ton of incentive for the Clippers to push Garland late in the season. Those two downsides are worth considering, but so is his top-30 upside.

Most Notable Fallers

Jalen Brunson, New York Knicks (Pick 36, ADP 21.6)

Brunson's ADP is reflective of two things. First, he's the Finals MVP, and there are a lot of Knicks fans. Second, points leagues. Brunson is a better points league player than category league one, making him a fine selection at ADP there. In a category formats, he's settled in as more of a 3rd-4th round player. The points and assists are nice, but he's giving you nothing defensively or on the glass. But there's real safety in his role, which can be worth paying up for. I think what we saw here – Brunson going at pick 36 – is a completely appropriate category-league spot.

Paolo Banchero, Orlando Magic (Pick 56, ADP 34.4)

Banchero, like Jalen Brunson, is a better points league player. His ADP reflects that. But I find myself more of a category-league Banchero optimist than other analysts and managers. The subpar efficiency combined with low 3-and-D numbers undoubtedly damages his fantasy profile. However, I gravitate toward his stat-sheet stuffing and the franchise's commitment to him as their No. 1 option. You can find 3s and defense pretty easily later in drafts. You can't find guys averaging 25/7/5 later in drafts.
