2026 Nba Franchise Valuations: See Where All 30 Teams Rank
2026 NBA franchise valuations: See where all 30 teams rank originally appeared on NBC Sports Philadelphia
NBA franchise valuations have soared through the roof since last season.
CNBC’s list of NBA franchise valuations for 2026 features the same three teams topping the list, but each team has experienced significant growth. This year’s triumvirate are all valued at more than $10 billion, according to CNBC senior sports reporter Michael Ozanian.
Leading the way are the Golden State Warriors ($10.8B), New York Knicks ($10.1B) and Los Angeles Lakers ($10B). For comparison’s sake, the Warriors were valued at $9.4 billion last year, almost $2 billion more than the Knicks at $7.5 billion. The Lakers sat at $7 billion.
This year’s top five saw a slight change, as the Los Angeles Clippers entered the frame at No. 4. Steve Ballmer’s team is valued at $6.9 billion, followed by the Chicago Bulls in fifth at $6.45 billion.
Rounding out the top 10, in order, are the Houston Rockets ($6.35B), Boston Celtics ($6.3B), Philadelphia 76ers ($6.1B), Miami Heat ($6.05B) and Brooklyn Nets ($6B).
Along with more private-equity money helping fund takeovers and the rise of global sponsorships, Ozanian said one key aspect of the league’s overall growth is the new TV deal.
“… It’s not just a dollar amount of the new TV deal, but the fact that they’re on NBC versus TNT,” Ozanian said. “… You’re getting into a lot more households. We’ve seen a big uptick in regular-season game ratings this season, and I think a large part of that is due to the new TV deal and the channels that they’re on.”
Even the bottom five teams in terms of valuations have seen growth, with just one change happening at No. 26 as the Indiana Pacers — off the back of an NBA Finals appearance — leapfrogged the Detroit Pistons.
Detroit is worth $4 billion, followed by the Charlotte Hornets ($3.9B), New Orleans Pelicans ($3.85B), Minnesota Timberwolves ($3.8B) and the last-place Memphis Grizzlies ($3.75B). Memphis had a $3.2 billion valuation the year prior, where it also ranked last.
