Aaron Glenn 'highly Disappointed' After Loss To Dolphins, But Believes Jets Are 'on The Right Track'
Jets head coach Aaron Glenn is taking the blame for the team's 28-25 home loss at the hands of a dismal divisional foe, the Miami Dolphins.
"Highly disappointed, disappointed in myself, first and foremost," said Glenn as he began his postgame press conference.
"We all have to get better. From coaching, to playing, to everything we're doing, we have to get better," he continued.
Glenn then looked ahead, urging his 2-5 squad to rally around both him and each other to make the most of a season that is seemingly slipping away.
"The thing is, this is seven games. We still have a number of games left, and that's how we look at it," he asserted. "It is what it is. This is the time for our guys to lock arms and make sure that everything we get as far as energy and connection is built from within."
One key drive from the game which stood out to Glenn upon reflection was Miami's final drive of the second quarter. The Dolphins began that drive with 8:44 left in the quarter from their own nine yard line, and drove the entire 91 yards on 15 plays to extend their lead to 21-7, leaving the Jets with just six seconds remaining in the first half.
"Maybe we should've called our timeouts to get it back, but at that point, we just felt like we were going to stop them and be able to get the ball back," Glenn explained.
His defense allowed 28 points, plus a failure to stop the Dolphins from running out the clock at the end of the game, which was 'really puzzling' to the head coach.
"Defensively, we have to do a better job," Glenn declared. "We've got to play better. Our fans deserve better than that, and that starts with me, so I'm going to make sure I'm going everything I can to get our guys ready for our next game."
Finally, Glenn was asked if he feels the Jets are headed in the right direction.
"I would say yes, because there's no quit in these guys," he concluded. "Listen, I know what the record is, I do, but I also know what I feel about these players and how they play."
"I know that we're not where we need to be. But I totally believe that we're on the right track."
