Adam Schefter, Espn Agree To Long-term Contract Extension Into 2030s

The most notable name among NFL insiders is remaining at ESPN.

Adam Schefter and the "Worldwide Leader" have agreed to a multi-year extension, ESPN announced Monday, July 13.

Front Office Sports first reported news of a long-term extension, expected to keep Schefter with the network into the 2030s, on July 9.

In addition to his social-media presence and news breaking, Schefter will continue to regularly appear on "Sunday NFL Countdown," "Monday Night Countdown," "NFL Live," "The Pat McAfee Show," "SportsCenter," "Get Up," "First Take" and the network's Super Bowl 61 and NFL Draft coverage.

"Adam reaches NFL fans wherever they are – on air, on ESPN Digital and on social – and that multi-platform instinct is a big part of what makes him so valuable to us,” ESPN president of content Burke Magnus said in a statement. “ESPN NFL news has a way of cutting through everything else on the sports calendar, and Adam is a big reason our audience comes to ESPN first when it breaks. His credibility with sources, relentless work ethic and ability to deliver news in real time are second to none. Fans know it, the league knows it and we know it. We’re thrilled he’ll continue leading our NFL coverage for years to come.”

The New York Post reported in 2022 that Schefter made roughly $9 million per year.

Schefter has been with ESPN since 2009 and has become ubiquitous, exhibiting the mindset and grind necessary to be an insider.

"It is the highest honor of my career to continue to get to work at ESPN," Schefter said in a statement.

ESPN acquired NFL Network in a deal that went completed regulators completed their review in January. Since then, NFL Network insiders such as Ian Rapoport and Mike Garofolo have signed multi-year deals with ESPN.
