Bears Host Annual Usaa Salute To Service Nfl Boot Camp At Halas Hall

Yesterday at Halas Hall, the Chicago Bears and USAA held their annual Salute to Service NFL Boot Camp, where service members based at Naval Station Great Lakes (IL) got to compete in drills similar to those used by NFL coaches to evaluate players. Those drills included the 40-yard dash, broad jump, three-cone shuttle, receiving gauntlet, and the quarterback arm challenge. They also got to participate in a fast-paced viral reaction challenge, testing their reflexes as they tried to catch falling batons as quickly as possible.

After an introduction from Bears’ legend Lance Briggs and Bears’ Assistant General Manager Jeff King, the service members were split into teams to compete, with the winning team receiving tickets to this year’s Bears’ Salute to Service Game presented by USAA.

The invited military members got to hang out with Briggs as he coached them through the drills, and they also got to stick around and watch what turned out to be a very demanding practice from a VIP viewing location.

“USAA’s Salute to Service NFL Boot Camp” represents the evolution of authentic military appreciation events that USAA and the Bears have created to foster an understanding and appreciation for the local military community, bringing our military closer to a game they love.
