The Cincinnati Bengals had a problem pop up the last two weeks at what is usually one of their deeper positions. Wide receiver became a little to thin with injuries to Andrei Iosivas and the rookie Colbie Young. Iosivas is on injured reserve, and Young has already been ruled out this week against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

This led Cincinnati to bring back a familiar face in Mitchell Tinsley. He had been cut after the preseason, but he opted to go to the Houston Texans practice squad, which is where he has been until the Bengals signed him to the active roster.

It was a decision that got Joe Burrow excited.

“I thought it was pretty much a no-brainer,” Burrow told reporters following Wednesday’s practice. “He played well for us last year and gave us some good reps. He made a lot of plays for us in his limited opportunities, so to take a guy like that back that we weren’t sure we were going to is good for the Bengals.”

Tinsley is unique in a way that he is able to make those high point catches on the boundary, which allows the team to comfortably move Ja’Marr Chase into the slot, where he can be an absolute nightmare for defenses.

It looks like Dax Hill will be lining up as the slot corner, which is what he played most of Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Jalen Davis is out, which leaves no one else since Ja’Sir Taylor is also out. Hill has shown he can do this, but it does mean rookie Tacario Davis has to grow up a bit quicker than expected as he will probably be slotted into the boundary corner position.

Bengals sign wideout, returner Ke’Shawn Williams back to practice squad

It wasn’t surprising to see the team move him around playing the 53-man roster game. He could be elevated when Sunday rolls around, but he certainly hurt his chances by having a very poor kick return — where he inexplicably tried to reverse field — as well as the even worse muffed punt late in the game. Those are two big no no’s as a returner.

Bengals’ injury report for Week 4 seems concerning

The safety position could be an issue come Sunday. Kyle Dugger is already out and Bryan Cook and Jordan Battle were both limited on Wednesday. Cook left Sunday’s game a few times, clearly trying to give it a go after dealing with injury. A close eye will have to be kept on their progress.

Steelers trading CB Joey Porter Jr. to Cowboys in exchange for second-, sixth-round picks

Talk about a poverty franchise. Another player the team couldn’t afford to pay getting offloaded to the Dallas Cowboys after they did the same with George Pickens last season. You have to wonder how this will impact morale seeing this front office refusing to budge on guaranteed money.

NFL QB rankings, Week 4: Brock Purdy climbs to No. 1; Kirk Cousins enters top 10

The strip sack was an unfortunate mistake, but you have to see how badly Burrow has to play absolutely perfect or otherwise he is punished. He was lights out against that defense even when you could argue they were letting defensive backs get away with way too much contact.

NFL Power Rankings, Week 4: 49ers claim No. 1 spot! Raiders, Vikings enter top 10; Patriots drop to 31

The Bengals remain in the Top 10. It was a rough loss for the defense, but it is even more unfortunate they are getting blamed for 10 points being created of easily avoided special teams’ miscues. It is a game Cincinnati was talented enough to win, but letting that Steelers offense go off sure hurt the perception of this team.
