Brian Schottenheimer: Left Tackle Is Still Not Decided
The competition at left tackle is officially over for apparently still going on for the Dallas Cowboys.
Brian Schottenheimer said on Wednesday during an appearance on San Antonio’s Sports Star that Tyler Guyton has still not officially won the job. Earlier in the week there were reports that Schotty declared Guyton the winner already, but Schotty told San Antonio that what his point truly meant to be was that Nate Thomas had to play better for it to be a real competition. Schotty reiterated that on Thursday in his press conference before practice.
Dallas Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer told @SASportsStar that he didn't say that Tyler Guyton is officially the starting left tackle in his Tuesday comments, that he said Nate Thomas needs to play better to earn first-team reps in practice.

Schotty gave enormous credit…
Brian Schottenheimer wanted to clarify things at LT. Tyler Guyton has not won the job yet. There is a competition but Nate Thomas has to perform better for there to be a legit competition. Guyton (elbow) will practice today.

This feels like a lot of coach speak, to be honest. It seems like the Cowboys know full well who the starting left tackle is going to be, but they are going through the process of things being a competition in the name of motivating Guyton. If you really want to wear a tin foil hat then maybe this about-face is part of that ploy.
Whatever the case… if you wrote down anything in pen on this front then you may want to start over.
