The speed at which the NFL moves is quite impressive, especially for a sport whose actual schedule is just over four months long. While NFL free agency is now open until the Super Bowl, a vast majority of the moves have already been made. A few big trades, a variety of lower-level free agent signings, and the NFL draft will continue to evolve NFL rosters.

The next big step is the NFL draft, which will entail a wide variety of local visits (prospects from colleges like The Ohio State, Akron, Toledo, and others) and the 30 allowed visits from schools outside of the area, which the Browns have historically used on players they draft in the first two days of the draft.

Cleveland is most likely to host quite a few of the quarterbacks available in this year’s draft.

While the draft ramp-up will get most of the attention, the current Browns roster will see the field in three weeks. Teams with new coaches, like Cleveland’s Todd Monken, can begin offseason activities on April 6th. The activities are minimal, but they give coaches a chance to work with the players in ways that are off-limits prior to the start of the offseason schedule.

Two weeks after the completion of that first set of offseason activities will bring the 2026 NFL draft, with rookie minicamps opening shortly after that. Then it is full speed ahead to the rest of the NFL’s offseason, including an uptick in free agent signings after the draft and some trades after the June 1st date that impacts the salary cap greatly.
