C.j. Stroud Floated As Surprise Trade Target For The Steelers
The Pittsburgh Steelers and their quarterback position will once again be one of the biggest storylines to follow over the next several weeks. With Aaron Rodgers having yet to make a decision on his future, the Steelers may have to look elsewhere for a signal-caller in 2026.
Many names have been floated around as quarterbacks to watch. Kyler Murray, Anthony Richardson, Malik Willis, and Mac Jones are the four biggest names that are expected to be on the move. However, Conor Orr of Sports Illustrated suggested that the Steelers make a call to the Houston Texans and attempt to trade for C.J. Stroud.
“If you’re the Steelers and Mike McCarthy, is that the phone call that you make?” Orr said on the MMQB Podcast. “C.J. Stroud is a classic drop-back passer with just enough athleticism sprinkled in there that could make it work for me.”
Stroud is coming off a very rough postseason in which he threw five interceptions, four of which came against the New England Patriots in the divisional round. He also fumbled five times, losing two of them. In spite of that, Stroud had a solid regular season, finishing ninth in EPA per play amongst 45 quarterbacks who played at least 150 snaps, and he has won a playoff game in each of his first three seasons.
