Chiefs News: Chiefs Bring Back Rookie Return Man To Practice Squad
On Wednesday, the Kansas City Chiefs reunited with a rookie undrafted free agent who spent time with the team this summer and at training camp. Jacob De Jesus, listed at 5 feet 6 inches, is a backup returner who will monitor the injury report for the Chiefs’ starting returner this week.

The latest Kansas City Chiefs news
The timing of the move stands out. Chiefs wide receiver Nikko Remigio was limited on Wednesday’s injury report with a hip injury. DeJesus served as the team’s second punt returner during training camp and the preseason, working behind Remigio. The decision to sign De Jesus could have something to do with Remigio’s status and availability.
At the very least, it’s good depth. It also creates some redundancy in the return game, where the Chiefs have been OK but not necessarily explosive. De Jesus is the type of player who could add that explosive element. He could be elevated from the practice squad if Remigio has to go on injured reserve or miss time for an extended period.
The Jaguars still listened. The Rams, Steelers and Chiefs were all interested in Thomas. However, all three teams asked about the availability of Downs, which shifted the negotiations to the Colts.
The Rams and Chiefs both offered 2027 fourth-round picks for Downs. The Steelers, meanwhile, were highly motivated to get a deal done for Downs. They offered a 2027 third-round pick in exchange for Downs and a Colts’ 2028 fifth-round pick.
The Rams and Chiefs both did not want to offer more than a fourth.
The Colts accepted the Steelers’ offer.
End result on Downs: Deal
Colts receive: 2027 third-round pick
Steelers receive: Downs and a 2028 fifth-round pick.
Chiefs’ floundering pass rush starts with Chris Jones: ‘I always can be better’ | ESPN
Through seven games, Jones, a six-time All-Pro, has generated 13 tackles (tied for 421st among all defenders), three quarterback hits (tied for 134th), two pass deflections (tied for 156th), a fumble recovery (tied for ninth) and half of a sack (tied for 261st).
“I always can be better,” Jones said last week. “I’m my biggest critic.”
Although Jones is still quick once the ball is snapped, he has been unable to make the splashy, highlight-worthy plays that typically define his game. Too often, the opposing quarterback has been able to evade Jones to either complete a pass or scramble for a positive gain.
“Penalties will kill you in this league, and right now we are killing ourselves in that regard. I’m at the forefront,” Kelce said. “I think it’s my third week in a row I’ve had a … procedural penalty that’s halted the drive, or we’re going backwards instead of going forwards. And I’ve been doing this too long to be hurting my team like that, and I mean it’s just inexcusable. And obviously, throughout the game, there were a lot of them that stopped drives that put us in tough positions and tough situations, including the last one.”
Patrick Mahomes Sends Chiefs Clear Message on WR Trade | Heavy Sports
Mahomes spoke with media members on Wednesday, November 4, during which he talked about the team’s need to re-establish the intermediate and deep pass game. However, the QB also sent the Chiefs a message about the personnel additions needed to make that happen, with Thornton out until likely near the end of the regular season, or potentially even the start of the playoffs.
“Obviously, you miss Tyquan’s speed and how he’s able to track the ball downfield. … Some of the downfield stuff is more about the teams that we’ve faced,” Mahomes said. “Obviously, we’ve got to get back to that.”

Seahawks QB Sam Darnold to miss Week 9 game vs. Cardinals due to quad injury | NFL.com
Macdonald added that the plan is for Drew Lock, who is dealing with an elbow injury, to start in place of Darnold. Seattle signed quarterback Adrian Martinez to the practice squad Wednesday, as well.
“Sam injured his quad at the end of the game, so Sam’s going to be out this week,” said Macdonald, who lauded his QB’s toughness, adding that Darnold also sustained a cracked rib on the second play of Monday’s game. “It’s going to be week to week for Sam. He’s not going to go on (injured reserve).”
Eagles to start Joe Milton at quarterback vs. Giants, replacing Tanner McKee | CBS Sports
The Philadelphia Eagles are entrusting a former Dallas Cowboy to be their new starting quarterback. Joe Milton will be the team’s starting quarterback in Week 9 against the NFC East-leading New York Giants, per ESPN.
Milton will be the third Eagles starting quarterback this season after Jalen Hurts went on injured reserve and backup Tanner McKee lost all three of his starts. The Eagles scooped him up off of the Dallas Cowboys’ practice squad on Oct. 16, a day before Hurts went on IR.
That was the story from Fox Sports’ Jay Glazer on Sunday, delivering the news that Jennings made clear he did not want to return to San Francisco when asked to get on a FaceTime call with Niners head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch:
“It was contingent upon [Jennings] hopping on a FaceTime with Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch and saying, ‘OK, yeah, I want to come back,’ but he didn’t. He said, ‘Actually, no I want to stay here in Minnesota.'”

Patrick Mahomes says Chiefs aren’t afraid to call the quarterback sneak
“There have been quarterback sneaks in games that we have put in,” Mahomes shared. “We will alert and change at the line of scrimmage if they get in those Tite fronts. Obviously, that wasn’t the play in that situation of the game, but it’s not like we’re scared to call the quarterback sneak. It’s just something that we haven’t done; we’ve been able to execute with other things.”
“So I don’t think coach Reid has put that on me,” Mahomes clarified. “But at the end of the day, if we can’t execute with the other things, I’m sure we’re going to have to make changes, and that’s something coach Reid is not afraid to do is make changes whenever needed.”
