Chiefs Reportedly Make Blockbuster Trade With Rams
On Tuesday, Les Snead, the Los Angeles Rams general manager, spoke with the media about the team’s offseason plans. The big takeaway from that press conference was his willingness to give up first-round picks for a ‘proven player’. Then today, news broke that the Rams and Kansas City Chiefs have an agreement on a mega blockbuster trade for Chiefs’ All-Pro cornerback Trent McDuffie.
NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero broke down the acquisition:
- Rams receive CB Trent McDuffie.
- Chiefs receive three 2026 NFL Draft picks (29th overall, 5th round, and 6th round) and a 2027 third round pick.
This is a major draft pick haul for the Chiefs. Seem like they are looking to load up on rookie deals to reset their roster and move younger overall.
Frankly, I see the Chiefs defense subtracting an All-Pro player for a draft haul of ‘maybes’. Looking over their recent draft history, McDuffie is clearly their best pick in the last four draft classes. If that trend continues, then this trade could end up resulting in further roster degradation. Obviously, that’s the outcome I’ll be rooting for.
This trade cannot become official until the start of the new league year next Wednesday, so this deal could theoretically still fall apart before then. Though that rarely happens.
What do you think of this trade: is this a good thing or bad thing for the Broncos and AFC West?
Patrick Mahomes doesn’t think its a good thing… Ha. Ha!
Damn..
