Chiefs Sign Kader Kohou As Dolphins Lose Cornerback In 2026 Free Agency
The Miami Dolphins lost a good one on Thursday. According to a report from Jordan Schultz, former Dolphins cornerback Kader Kohou is signing with the Kansas City Chiefs as day two of the 2026 NFL free agency period continues. The addition of Kohou gives Kansas City a starting nickel cornerback who can move outside if needed.
A 2022 undrafted free agent out of Texas A&M – Commerce, Kohou went from unknown to immediate contributor for the Dolphins, playing in Week 1 of his rookie season and recording three tackles and a pass defensed. He played in 13 games, including one start, in his rookie season, finishing the year with 72 tackles, one forced fumble, 10 passes defensed, and an interception.
In 2023, Kohou started 16 of the 17 games on the schedule, recording 63 tackles, one sack, one fumble recovery, and 10 passes defensed. During the 2024 season, he recorded 45 tackles, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, eight passes defensed, and two interceptions.
He was expected to lead the Dolphins’ cornerback group in 2025, but an ACL tear sustained early in training camp cost him the entire season. He was fully cleared to return to football at the start of March and now will head to Kansas City to resume his career.
