Cleveland Browns News: Bulletin Boards, Injuries, And Fan Confidence

There is a fear among fans and media members about the power of “bulletin-board material.”

According to the theory, if a player or coach says something negative (either real or perceived) about the upcoming team on the schedule, that quote will be printed out and posted on a bulletin board for everyone on the opposing team to see.

It is a bit of an antiquated idea – has anyone actually used a bulletin board since the last millennium? – but it was probably always more about the message than the medium anyway.

The real question is just how much does that actually happen across professional sports? These are highly skilled athletes making a good living and eager to keep it that way. Do they really need to be motivated by something another player may (or may not) have said in the build-up to the game?

Well, we’re going to find out come Sunday when the Cleveland Browns take on the New Orleans Saints, as defensive end Carl Granderson is a bit out of joint over comments from Cleveland quarterback Shedeur Sanders.

#Saints EDGE Carl Granderson says the defense will play with a chip on its shoulder Sunday against the #Browns:

"They've been chirping a little bit. We see what the quarterback said. […] It's going to be a good game for sure." pic.twitter.com/FRs0qxBzWe

In a clip from the NOF Network, Granderson said the Saints will be ready for Sanders come Sunday:

“We have a chip on our shoulde for sure. They’ve been chirping a little bit. We see what the quarterback done said. So we going to come in hot and ready to play. It’s going to be a good game for sure.

One would think the Saints would be “hot and ready to play” even without some pretty tame comments from a player who is going to make one start before heading back to the bench. But to each their own.

We don’t have a bulletin board at DBN headquarters, but what we do have is the latest edition of the Saturday Dawg Chow, ready to roll.

Cleveland Browns

3 ways Browns QB Shedeur Sanders can show growth vs. Saints (ESPN): There are a lot of things that Shedeur Sanders must do on Sunday. Here are just three of them.
