The Commanders signed Yiadom to the practice squad on Sept. 1, after being released by the New Orleans Saints. He was third-round draft pick out of Boston College back in 2018 and is entering his ninth NFL season. He has 34 starts in 118 NFL games and 230 tackles, three forced fumbles and three interceptions to his credit.
Yiadom adds experienced depth to the cornerbacks corps and special teams. It’s uncertain why he wasn’t considered a practice-squad elevation if needed, unless it was a move to keep another team from poaching him off Washington’s practice squad.
It’s also possible that Barber ends up taking the open practice squad spot if he clears waivers, though time will tell on that front. Barber had a strong training camp and preseason, though he was inactive for the Week 1 loss to Philadelphia.
