Confidence Much Higher In Broncos Country This Week

What a difference a week makes. Errr…a win.

Beating a very good Jaguars team in a second-half rally that added another fourth-quarter comeback to Bo Nix’s resume was just the confidence boost Broncos Country needed to feel good about its team again.

From 38% believing in the direction of the team to 88%…everyone is feeling better.

But that doesn’t mean Broncos Country isn’t also a little concerned about tonight’s game against the LA Rams.

In fact, one player is the most concerning — Matthew Stafford.

And for good reason. The reigning Super Bowl MVP led his team to a solid win last week over the Giants with four touchdown passes, going 22 of 31 for 327 yards.

While Davante Adams had a big night, it was mostly thanks to Stafford, and the fact that Puka Nacua was out with an injury. So he’s a threat, but Stafford holds the cards.

And although Broncos Country isn’t too concerned about the running backs, defensive coordinator Vance Joseph believes stopping that offense means keeping the run game in check.

“This 13-personnel stuff, it forces you to play big and also play small on some passing downs, so it’s kind of brilliant. The three-tight-end sets with one receiver, it can look like 13 or 11 or 10. So he has the ability to obviously make you play big and if you do play big with extra linemen, extra backers, he can spread you out and play small,” Joseph said. “So that’s the first challenge for us is stopping the 13 personnel run and pass game. Then obviously getting them in known passing downs, and rushing the right way, and covering their main guys, that’s the key, but it starts with stopping the run game.”
