Cowboys veteran Markquese Bell was arrested on multiple drug charges in a Dallas suburb Friday.

The safety was booked in Prosper, Texas, on a felony count of possession of a controlled substance and a misdemeanor count of possession of marijuana, Collin County Sheriff’s Office records show.

The 27-year-old Bell could face a lengthy suspension or heavy fines under the NFL’s Personal Conduct Policy.

More in-depth details of the arrest and the alleged drugs were not initially released.

The Cowboys have yet to comment on the arrest.

Bell, an undrafted free agent from Florida A&M in 2022, was a major contributor to the Cowboys’ last season.

He played in all 17 games with three starts.

He made 41 combined tackles and added an interception and a forced fumble.

Bell could have been in line for a larger role this year under new defensive coordinator Christian Parker’s 3-4 defense, according to the Cowboys team website.

He brings some versatility as someone who could play safety and linebacker.

The Bridgeton, N.J. native, who signed a three-year contract extension up to $12 million last March, also shined on special teams and played 63 percent of the snaps.

The Cowboys are coming off a down season under first-year head coach Brian Schottenheimer.

Dallas went 7-9 and missed the playoffs.

Now, they could be left missing one of their most versatile players for weeks.
