Dallas Cowboys wide receiver George Pickens has signed the franchise tag, the team announced Wednesday.

After signing the tender, Pickens, who broke out in 2025 during his first season with the Cowboys, will be guaranteed $27.3 million this season.

Last week, on Day 1 of the NFL Draft, a report surfaced that the 25-year-old wideout was signing the tag, but on Monday, ESPN’s Todd Archer reported that Pickens had not, in fact, followed through yet. Soon after, while on the “The Pat McAfee Show,” ESPN’s Adam Schefter provided a bit of clarification on the apparent discrepancy.

Schefter maintained that Pickens’ plan was still to sign the tag and read a text from a source.

“It was draft weekend,” Schefter read. “Signing the tag immediately wasn’t first thing on his mind.”

Two days later, it’s finally official. But that doesn’t mean the contract drama between the Cowboys and Pickens is over. He made it clear that he wanted a long-term deal this offseason, and Dallas decided against offering him one this time around.
