The New Orleans Saints will kick off the 2026 regular season Sunday afternoon when they travel to Detroit to face the Lions at Ford Field. It will mark the first time New Orleans has opened the season on the road since 2022.

The Saints enter their second season under head coach Kellen Moore looking to improve on last year’s 6-11 finish. With Tyler Shough firmly established as the team’s starting quarterback and leader of the offense, New Orleans will face an immediate test against a talented Detroit team that finished 9-8 last season.

For the Saints, Sunday’s opener provides an early opportunity to show whether the optimism surrounding the revamped roster can translate into results and whether they can continue building on the momentum they established at the end of the 2025 season.
