Davante Adams Injury Update As Rams Wr Faces Lengthy Absence After Rupturing Hamstring
Whatever could go wrong, will go wrong.
The Los Angeles Rams are finding that out the hard way in 2026. And for a "dream team," that is hardly ideal. Fresh off another loss on Sunday in Week 6 – a third loss in four games – the Rams were dealt a major injury off the field as well.
Davante Adams ruptured his hamstring and will be sidelined 6-to-10 weeks, according to head coach Sean McVay.
The star receiver is just the latest Rams player to be sidelined with an injury this season. Joining a list that also includes Myles Garrett, L.A. is now down a star on offense. And to make matters worse, the team also lost newly-signed kicker, Blake Grupe to a season-ending torn ACL early in Week 6.
A season that began with a "Super Bowl or bust" mindset, the team has never felt so far away from the big game, which is a problem when it's being played at their home stadium.
Here's the latest on Adams.
Davante Adams injury update
Adams ruptured his hamstring in the Rams' Week 6 loss to the Arizona Cardinals, according to McVay.
The receiver sustained a non-contact injury, and he was alone in the end zone before hobbling and holding his left knee. Adams initially looked back after pulling up, then limped to the sideline, where the medical staff evaluated him.
How long is Davante Adams out?
Adams will miss 6-to-10 weeks as he recovers from the ruptured hamstring.
While it could've been worse, the Rams can take solace that it won't be a season-ending injury for the 33-year-old. If the Rams string together wins and secure a playoff spot, Adams should be back in time for that potential run.
Of course, making the playoffs will be a bigger challenge without a key red zone threat, but L.A. is at least built to sustain an injury of that magnitude.
As it stands, Adams could expect to be back on the field at some point in December if all goes well.
When did Davante Adams get hurt?
Adams suffered the injury with 1:18 left in the fourth quarter of Week 6.
Rams WR depth chart
- Puka Nacua
- Konata Mumpfield
- Jordan Whittington
- Tutu Atwell
- CJ Daniels
- Alex Bachman
The Rams' receiver depth will be tested without Adams, especially since Nacua will likely draw even more attention from opposing defenses. That means that Mumpfield should expect an uptick in targets and opportunity, at least while Terrance Ferguson remains sidelined.
Ferguson is currently on injured reserve with an ankle injury, but could return as early as Week 8.
If the tight end doesn't suffer a setback and gets back on the field, it will allow McVay to start running 13 personnel once again with his trio of tight ends – something the Rams had plenty of success with in 2025.
If that becomes a reality in the near future, Nacua and the receiving corps would get help in a different way.
