David Bailey Has Would-be Sack Of Baker Mayfield As Jets Rookie Continues Outstanding Camp
Observations from the Jets’ joint practice with the Buccaneers on Wednesday:
Champ Bailey
Jets edge rusher David Bailey continues to have an outstanding training camp. He had what would have been a sack of Baker Mayfield if tackling were allowed during a team period. He also beat Luke Goedeke, whom he fought Tuesday, in one-on-one drills.

Two-Minute ill
The joint practice with the Buccaneers ended with a two-minute drill. The Buccaneers offense went first and Mayfield diced up the Jets defense, going 68 yards and scoring a touchdown. Mayfield went 5-for-6 on the drive and threw a touchdown pass to Cade Otton. The Jets offense then got the ball at their own 32 and sputtered. Braelon Allen had a drop and the offense had three penalties. The drive stalled at the Tampa 43 and Jason Sanders missed a 61-yard field goal, coming up short.
Caught My Eye
Tight end Jeremy Ruckert made the catch of the day for a 19-yard gain during the two-minute drill. He leaped and caught a high pass from Geno Smith. Ruckert has had a strong camp.
Medical Report
CB Qwan’tez Stiggers is in the concussion protocol after passing out during Tuesday’s practice. Stiggers was released from the hospital Tuesday night and is home recovering. DE Kingsley Enagbare (foot) did not practice. DE Joseph Ossai was activated from the PUP list Tuesday and Aaron Glenn said he hopes Ossai can practice next week.
