Dj Lagway Injury Update: Baylor Qb Playing Through Ankle Pain Vs Auburn

Baylor football quarterback DJ Lagway was carried into the locker room by teammates at the end of the first half against Auburn, but the Florida transfer quarterback is playing through the pain.

Lagway suffered an ankle injury in the first half against Auburn, hobbling off the field after a failed conversion. He returned to the field with his ankle heavily taped and noticeably limping, but was carried to the tunnel at the end of the half.

On the possession after he limped off the field, Lagway threw what looked to be a touchdown to wide receiver Jadon Porter and was hopping down the field in celebration. While the touchdown was later ruled an incompletion, it cast light on how limited Lagway's mobility is. He threw a touchdown on the ensuing play to Louis Brown IV from 14 yards out.

"He's fighting through it. I think some of the running that we had going into the game, we're trying to find where the game plan goes," Baylor coach Dave Aranda said of Lagway's injury at the half. "Throwing-wise, he's stepping into throws, and he's battling through. The guys are seeing him battle through, and they want to achieve for him."

He's back out there to start the second half with his ankle re-taped.

It's uncertain when exactly Lagway was injured, though he did land hard on his right ankle trying to hurdle an Auburn defender in a play that ultimately resulted in a fumble.

He is trying to play through it for the Bears, and is limping after nearly every play. Indeed, he was seen being carried into the tunnel by teammates, so his ankle is, at least, uncomfortable to play on.
