Eagles News: Moro Ojomo Is Drawing “real Interest” Ahead Of The Nfl Trade Deadline
Welcome to The Linc, the daily Philadelphia Eagles links roundup at Bleeding Green Nation!
I just don’t believe the Eagles are seriously interested in paying Moro Ojomo after signing Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis to big-money contract extensions. Unless they move on from Carter or Davis … or plan to do so in the offseason. Seems to me like they’ll trade Ojomo ahead of the deadline. If there isn’t a great offer, they can just keep him and hope he factors in to their compensatory pick formula. Now, what can they get for him? Hard to say for sure. I think some might overstate his value considering he has zero sacks this season and only six in his career. But he’s better than those numbers would indicate. Maybe a third-round pick?
Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles news and links …
NFL Week 9 latest intel, buzz questions, fantasy tips and trade deadline news – ESPN
This could be for edge or interior help, in part because the Jaguars have versatile players such as Travon Walker who can play multiple spots up front. Eagles defensive tackle Moro Ojomo is a person of interest here, though Philly is inclined to keep and potentially extend him. […] Speaking of Philadelphia, my sense is the Eagles could be trading some players but likely won’t engage in a rebuild. As one source pointed out, that’s not in the Eagles’ organizational DNA. We already know they aren’t trading running back Saquon Barkley. Look, let’s not be naive — general manager Howie Roseman will take advantage of good value if it’s there, and supporting players are surely on the radar. But dealing big names would be a mild surprise. Ojomo will be a test of the Eagles’ transitional state. There’s real interest in him (from Jacksonville and others). Whether Philly acts on that interest will tell a lot.
Moro Ojomo is a fascinating player to watch during the next week leading up to the trade deadline. The Eagles don’t like letting talented homegrown defensive linemen out the door — and they’re feeling the pain of seeing Milton Williams and Josh Sweat go elsewhere — but it’s hard to see a scenario where Ojomo returns next season with Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis still on the roster. Sports Illustrated reported last week that the Eagles are telling teams they’re not interested in trading Ojomo and want to keep him, but will they pay three defensive tackles top-of-the-league money (assuming that’s what Ojomo commands on the open market)? They seem to have made their choice when they signed Carter and Davis. “Howie (Roseman) and (Jeffrey) Lurie mean so much to me for giving me this opportunity to play for this team,” Roseman said. “I think I was the 23rd DT picked up? If we could make it work, I love playing for the city; I love working hard for the city. I want to produce results for the city. I hate letting them down and being 2-5 like we are. … I mean, I don’t think any door is shut. I wouldn’t say that. You don’t know what the future holds.” It’s a nice thought. It doesn’t seem realistic. The Eagles would be smart to get compensation for Ojomo now, especially in what could be a seller’s market at defensive tackle. If they can land a third-round pick, it would be better than any potential compensatory pick in 2028. Perhaps they can find a way to get a second-round pick. Ojomo said he doesn’t know what will happen — “I just work here,” he said — but he has the talent to help a contending team down the stretch. It hasn’t shown in his statistics this year. I believe in the player, and he’s also a value-add in the locker room. The Eagles will miss him if he’s gone. It’s the reality of the NFL. “I like the way I started the season a little bit,” Ojomo said. “The last couple games being banged up and all that, I want to get back to kind of playing confident, fast. I think that ‘get off’ is one of the things I do at a really high level. That’s one of the things I want to kind of lock in on these next however many games.”
I’m struggling to get particularly angry about this offense anymore. There were times when watching the Eagles lose 27-10 to the Commanders bored me. We keep seeing players asked to do things that don’t suit them. Every week, I sit down hoping to see something different, and every week, it feels like I’m writing about the same problems. The Eagles scored their final points with 4:27 remaining in the first quarter. There was an awful lot of football left to sit through after that. The idea that Jalen Hurts was holding this offense back, and that everything would look dramatically different with a quarterback who preferred playing under center and throwing over the middle, should be finished by now. Tanner McKee hasn’t transformed anything. It’s the same offense, with the same limitations, and very little downfield passing game. That doesn’t mean Hurts was playing perfectly or that McKee has played well. He hasn’t. It means changing the quarterback was never going to solve all of this.
I would not make a good NFL head coach or coordinator for many reasons. High on that list would be, I can’t imagine being at ground level of a disaster like we currently are experiencing with the Eagles, and not reacting with urgency, frustration, and alarm. The Eagles’ coordinators held their weekly media briefings Tuesday. I’m smart enough to know that the manner they convey to reporters doesn’t necessarily mirror their private reactions. They don’t want their players to think they are panicking. Even so, the matter-of-fact, “we just need to tweak this or that” patter at this point in the season is jarring to the ear. Six losses in a row? The last three by double figures? All to teams that currently have losing records? Defensive coordinator Vic Fangio has been known to get acerbic when his players aren’t performing to his standards. Not this season, which is shaping up as the worst by far in Fangio’s three years with the Eagles. Vic seems a bit distant these days, almost sedated. When asked to comment on specific players, he either praises them, as he has done repeatedly when asked about Cooper DeJean’s uncharacteristic struggles, or refers to injuries they are working through.
2026 NFL offensive line rankings: Lions retain top spot, Colts fall without Quenton Nelson – PFF
22) EAGLES — Left guard Landon Dickerson had his best game of the season, amassing a 72.8 PFF grade in the Eagles’ loss to the Washington Commanders on Sunday night. Having permitted nine pressures from 75 pass-blocking snaps in his previous two starts, he allowed just two on 44 snaps this week. However, the right side of the line was ineffective, with Tyler Steen and Markel Bell combining to give up eight pressures.
In Roob’s Eagles Stats: A big pile of misery broken up by tiny encouraging blips – NBCSP
The Eagles have had fewer than 350 yards of offense in all eight games so far this year, with a high of 341 at Tennessee. This is the first time in more than half a century they’ve opened a season with eight games under 350 net yards. Last time it happened was the first 11 games of the 1971 season, when their yardage high was 315 yards in a 37-14 loss to the Bengals in the season opener at Riverfront Stadium. Going back to last year, the Eagles have gone 10 straight games with fewer than 350 yards, their longest streak since an 11-gamer over the last nine games of 1977 and the first games of 1978. This is not good.

NY Giants are betting favorite to win NFC East, and have John Harbaugh to thank – Big Blue View
Brandon Lee Gowton of Bleeding Green Nation is taking the Cowboys to emerge as champs. “The Eagles will not. The Eagles are arguably the worst team in the NFL. It’s hard to see how things are going to get better for them this season. The Giants certainly have a good energy going for them as they currently sit atop the division. But quarterback uncertainty remains. The Cowboys could eventually wake up; they have the NFL’s sixth-easiest remaining schedule. I’ll take Dallas to very narrowly edge the Giants.”
How Brian Schottenheimer is failing the Cowboys – Blogging The Boys
The Cowboys are a 3-5 football team, and sadly, it’s fitting for who they are. Each week, they are favored against these bad teams because, on paper, they should be beating them. They have more talent. But none of that matters when the coaching puts them at such a disadvantage. Star players become average, and average players become bad. So far, the evidence strongly suggests that Schottenheimer is not a head coach capable of leading an NFL team to victory, and with each new week, this is becoming more and more obvious.
Commanders injury update: Three key players placed on injured reserve – Hogs Haven
The Commanders have placed defensive linemen Daron Payne, Javon Kinlaw and running back Jeremy McNichols on injured reserve, the team announced on Tuesday. None of that is good news. Some of it was expected based on reporting on Payne and McNichols. This Kinlaw situation is another kick in the shin.
Buffalo Bills release C.J. Gardner-Johnson, what’s next in safety room? – Buffalo Rumblings
After his first three NFL seasons on the Saints, the team that drafted him, since the beginning of the 2022 campaign, Gardner-Johnson has been on the Eagles, Lions, Eagles, Texans, Bears, and Bills, and has yet to stay with any of those teams for consecutive seasons. Beyond his on-field antics, Gardner-Johnson, who’ll turn 29 in December, had seriously problems tackling while in Buffalo. In fact, entering Week 9, his 25.7% missed tackle rate was the highest in the NFL among qualifying safeties.
Vikings waive G Trevor Keegan – PFT
Keegan, 26, appeared in seven games for Minnesota this season. He was on the field for 30 special teams snaps and three offensive snaps. The Vikings had claimed Keegan off waivers in September. An Eagles fifth-round pick in 2024, Keegan has also spent time with the Cowboys.
Saints make a set of important roster moves on Tuesday – Canal Street Chronicles
The New Orleans Saints made a set of roster moves today, announcing that they have released kicker Daniel Carlson and claimed [former Eagles] running back Audric Estime off waivers. Estime is a much-needed addition to a running game that has been virtually nonexistent this season. Coming off their bye week, the Saints are looking to reinvigorate an offense that has struggled to find consistency, and that has to start with establishing the running game, which currently ranks among the worst in the NFL.
What activating Marcus Bryant, releasing Kindle Vildor means for the Patriots – Pats Pulpit
[Former Eagles] CB Kindle Vildor: Released. Based on Sunday’s game against the Miami Dolphins, Vildor’s release comes as a minor surprise. While his 13 snaps on the day exclusively came on special teams, he was part of the game day roster as the fifth cornerback over rookies Karon Prunty and Channing Canada. In fact, the two youngsters were made healthy scratches. And yet, on Tuesday, it was the veteran — who has so far out-snapped both of them on the season — to be let go. The why has yet to be determined, although it seems that his status might be directly tied to that of cornerback Carlton Davis, who had missed three games due to a neck injury before returning on Sunday. With Davis back in the lineup, roster flexibility seemingly outweighed the need for a seventh player at the position regardless of experience or résumé.
[Former Eagles practice squad member] Xavier Truss (6-7, 320) is in his second NFL season out of Georgia. Originally signed as an undrafted free agent by Denver in 2025, Truss has appeared in seven career games with the Saints. He was also a member of the Browns’ practice squad earlier this season. Truss will wear No. 66.
Broncos sign 3 players to practice squad – Denver Broncos
[Former Eagles DB] Ugo Amadi, a veteran player who has appeared in 85 career games, spent time on the Broncos’ practice squad in October. A 2019 fourth-round pick of the Seattle Seahawks, Amadi has recorded 208 tackles, two quarterback hits, 12 tackles for loss, two sacks, two forced fumbles and an interception in his NFL career.
Raiders make two roster moves Tuesday – Raiders Wire
Tuesday is the day for roster shuffling. The Raiders made a couple moves, adding DE Anthony Goodlow to the practice squad and releasing [former Eagles] T Darian Kinnard.
Gardner Minshew came off the bench to rally Arizona to an overtime win in Dallas. Bucky Irving and Kenneth Gainwell ran for 310 yards as the Bucs won without completing a pass. And Ty’Ron Hopper did something no Packer had done since Charles Woodson.
