Eagles Reportedly Hire Their Jeff Stoutland Replacement

The Philadelphia Eagles reluctantly said goodbye to Jeff Stoutland last week after he spent 13 years as the team’s offensive line coach. Now they’re moving on and hiring Chris Kuper to fill the role.

Kuper played offensive guard for the Broncos from 2006 to 2013 and most recently spent four years as the Minnesota Vikings’ offensive line coach. He also had a brief stint with the Broncos as an assistant OL coach under Vic Fangio from 2019-2021.

Here’s how the Vikings’ offensive lines ranked over the past four seasons by Pro Football Focus:

2025 — 18th
2024 — 18th
2023 — 12th
2022 — 13th

Kuper is just the latest addition to Sean Mannion’s staff, with the new OC bringing in familiar faces like run-game coordinator/TE coach Ryan Mahaffey.

The new OL coach will have big shoes to fill, but the offensive scheme is primed to look different this season and a change might be good up front. There’s still some uncertainty about how many starters will return, with Lane Johnson and Landon Dickerson both reportedly considering retirement. Johnson hasn’t confirmed he’ll be back in 2026, but did say during Super Bowl week that he will be open-minded to the coaching changes.

With or without Johnson, Kuper will have an opportunity to bring one of the best offensive lines in the league, back from a down season in 2025.
