Eagles Vs. Titans: Live Score Updates, Highlights, Injury News

The Philadelphia Eagles are on the road this weekend to take on the Tennessee Titans in Nashville. But it could certainly feel like a home game for the Birds due to all the Philly fans who made the trip down to Broadway!

With the heat index projected to be over 105 degrees, it sure is going to be a hot one. It remains to be seen what kind of impact this weather will have on the game.

That’s not the only uncertainty in this matchup. The Eagles are also going with a new starting offensive line configuration due to Landon Dickerson’s injury. Cam Jurgens is slated to make his first-ever start at left guard with Drew Kendall stepping in at center.

Even with these moving parts, the Eagles should be expected to look better on offense than they did in Week 1. The Titans don’t have the talent — on paper, at least — to stifle Philadelphia’s personnel. Vic Fangio’s defense, meanwhile, should be expected to cause problems for Cam Ward and a Titans offense that looked pretty listless last Sunday.

FIRST QUARTER

• The Eagles won the coin toss and elected to defer, per usual, to put the Titans on offense first. Jalyx Hunt opened the game with a TFL on Tony Pollard. Facing 3rd-and-11, Cam Ward’s pass to Carnell Tate went through the receiver’s hands with Andrew Mukuba in position to blow the rookie up. Mukuba put his hands up in fear of getting called for hitting a defenseless receiver … but he held up well and there was no flag. Three-and-out.
• The Eagles took over at their own 28-yard line after a nice 23-yard punt return by Britain Covey. They immediately ran Saquon Barkley behind Cam Jurgens and the running back was tackled for a loss and banged up on the play. Not great! Facing 3rd-and-12 after a swing pass to Tank Bigsby went nowhere, Dontayvion Wicks got open in a soft spot in the middle of the field and Jalen Hurts hit him for a first down. Good ball. Facing 3rd-and-6, a Will Shipley run brought the Eagles to fourth-and-short. Facing 4th-and-1 (a long one, at that) the Eagles lined up for a tush push and it looked like Hurts got it but there was a flag on the Titans for being offside anyway for a first down. Facing 3rd-and-5, the Eagles lined up with an empty backfield and Hurts hit DeVonta Smith over the middle for a first down. Facing 3rd-and-4 after two Shipley runs, Hurts hit Wicks for another first down. Facing 3rd-and-goal from the 8-yard line after a Hurts designed run went nowhere and Hurts had to throw the ball away after Jeffery Simmons got pressure up the middle, Hurts got picked in the end zone and the Titans nearly had a pick six before Makai Lemon did a nice job of tracking down the receiver from behind to prevent the instant touchdown. Not sure what Hurts was seeing there! Even if another defender didn’t jump the throw, which he did, Hurts’ target (DeVonta) looked to be well-covered. 92-yard return on the interception. Disappointing to end the 15-play, 64-yard drive with zero points.

• The Titans took over at the plus 10-yard line. Facing 3rd-and-goal after the Titans dropped a touchdown pass, Ward spun out of a Hunt sack (gotta finish, Jalyx!) and ran just shy of the end zone. Facing 4th-and-goal, the Titans went with a tush push of their own for a touchdown. Ward was talking trash to Jordan Davis after the score. EAGLES 0, TITANS 7.

• The Eagles took over at their own 35-yard line. They slowly but surely moved into Titans territory. Facing 3rd-and-8, Hurts had to navigate pressure before finding Makai Lemon for a first down. Nice contested grab by the rookie to end the first quarter.

SECOND QUARTER

• Bigsby ran hard on back-to-back carries to get the ball into the end zone! Good player who shouldn’t go so underutilized. Only had one touch in Week 1! Nice response by the offense to get a game-tying seven points on an 11-play, 65-yard drive. EAGLES 7, TITANS 7.

• The Titans took over at their own 29-yard line. Facing 3rd-and-1, the Titans easily picked up a first down with a Tony Pollard run. Calvin Ridley knocked the Titans’ offense back with an unnecessary roughness penalty against Marcus Epps. Dumb flag for a veteran player. Facing 3rd-and-16, Ward was pressured into a throwaway. The Titans were flagged for a facemask penalty that would’ve wiped out any kind of positive gain anyway.
• The Eagles took over at their own 19-yard line. The Eagles got Hollywood Brown involved on a designed touch to the left end for a nine-yard rushing gain. This after he played zero snaps in Week 1. Hurts hit DeVonta along the right sideline for a first down. Facing 3rd-and-9, Hurts took off running up the middle and slid shy of the marker. Facing 4th-and-3, Nick Sirianni kept the offense on the field … and took a timeout after the offense couldn’t draw the defense offside. Facing 4th-and-3 again, Wicks got WIDE open and Hurts hit him for an easy first down. Good design/call from Sean Mannion there. Also good by Sirianni to go for it. Facing 3rd-and-4, Hurts picked up a first down on a designed run to the right edge … and the Titans were also flagged for illegal hands to the face for another five yards. Facing 3rd-and-12, Hurts stood in the pocket against pressure bearing down on him and delivered a ball to Wicks for yet another first down. Wicks is a player. Also, kudos to Hurts for continuing to carry the offense on third-and-long. Facing 2nd-and-19 after a holding penalty on Cam Jurgens (his third holding flag this season), Hurts stepped right to avoid pressure and found DeVonta in the end zone for a touchdown! Again, Hurts is carrying the offense. EAGLES 14, TITANS 7.

• The Titans took over at their own 30-yard line with 1:45 on the clock and three timeouts to work with. Facing 3rd-and-13 after Nolan Smith sacked Ward (who tried to step up against the Eagles’ pressure), the Titans ripped off back-to-back explosive completions to move into the red zone (bad open field missed tackle by Zack Baun on a Tyjae Spears catch-and-run). What the hell, defense? Ward only had eight passing yards before two straight completions for 55 yards. Facing 3rd-and-14, Brian Daboll went with a coward’s draw. Lol, the Eagles gladly accepted that gift. The Titans’ 37-yard field goal attempt was good to end the first half. EAGLES 14, TITANS 10.

THIRD QUARTER

• The Eagles took over at their own 40-yard after the Titans’ kickoff was short of the landing zone. Instead of leaning into their strength of the day, the passing attack, the Eagles came out running with Barkley and Tyler Steen got called for holding to knock the offense back. Lane Johnson was flagged for being too far off the line of scrimmage to knock the offense back some more and wipe out a Hurts run. Hurts scrambled, avoided a sack, and then got crushed as he somehow managed to get a dump off pass to Shipley. Facing 3rd-and-12, Hurts couldn’t escape pressure and got sacked with Jurgens’ man beat.

• Saquon Barkley (stinger) got banged up on the Eagles’ first offensive snap. He was ruled questionable to return. Barkley was back in the game to begin the third quarter.
