Action report from the bookmakers

Houston Texans vs. Jacksonville Jaguars (in London)

Thomas Gable, sportsbook director at The Borgata in Atlantic City: "We opened Jaguars -2.5, really haven't moved off that. Not much movement on the total either. Little more Jags money than Texans currently, but not a big decision right now. Good two-way action."

Joey Feazel, head NFL trader at Caesars Sportsbook: "We opened up Jaguars -3, it's been sitting at a strong -2.5 all week. Total opened at 43, bouncing between 42.5 and 43. Not an astronomical amount of action here yet. Even come Sunday, there will be two-way action. Despite Houston's record, bettors will support them and the Jags on the other side got away with one last week. Best-case scenario will probably be Jacksonville by 1 or 2."

Carolina Panthers at Philadelphia Eagles

Feazel: "Obviously a lot of movement in this game off the Jalen Hurts news. Clearly, the Eagles were planning on passing more coming into this year, they have been trying to — but not successfully. As anticipated, with Hurts out, we've seen some more action on the Panthers. Carolina coming off a bye as well. Little more action towards the under, but mostly one-way traffic on the Panthers and I don't anticipate that changing. We opened Eagles -2.5 on the lookahead, now at Panthers -3.5. When we re-opened on Sunday, it was a pick-em."

Chicago Bears at Atlanta Falcons

Gable: "This one has seen some interesting line movement. We opened Bears -1 and then there were the comments from Ben Johnson that Caleb Williams would return, so we quickly went to Bears -2.5. It got as high as 3, now it looks like Penix will play, so right now Bears are only laying a point on the road. We had some Atlanta money there at +3 and taking 2.5."

Feazel: "We opened up Bears -3 on Sunday, now we're at -1.5. Falcons have been solid offensively, most of the action coming in on the over. Opened 49.5 on Monday, we're now up to 51.5 — touched 52 and had a little pushback. I'd anticipate a little more Falcons money here, and a slight need on the Bears to cover."

Buffalo Bills at Las Vegas Raiders

Gable: "Bills are down to -4.5. We opened -6 last Sunday night before MNF, but Raiders have taken some early money here as home 'dogs. Total has ticked up from 52.5 to 53, a little bit more money on the over. I have a feeling we're going to need the Raiders here."

Feazel: "Raiders have been an interesting one, ever since they started 3-0. They were driving a lot of action here in town. Seeing more action on the Bills, but I don't think the local Vegas public is going to stray away from the Raiders. I anticipate two-way action with most of the public on the Bills. Not much action on the total in this one. Need probably will be Bills to win, but not cover."

Green Bay Packers at Dallas Cowboys

Gable: "Another game where favorite has flipped. We opened Cowboys -1, now Packers -1. Had a decent amount of Green Bay money come in here. Total opened 50.5, that quickly got bet up to 53. Some respected money on the over, starting to balance out in terms of money at 53. I think we'll need the Cowboys."

Feazel: "Action mostly on the total here, on the over. I don't anticipate that changing with how Dallas' defense has looked. A little but more money on the Packers here, but pretty good two-way action. By game-time I expect we'll need a Packers win. Despite the Cowboys' Thursday night debacle, I anticipate the public to be on Dallas in this one. Total opened 51, has crept up to 53."

Sharp action

It's always notable where respected bettors have landed on this week's games. While these prices may not currently be available at all sportsbooks, knowing where sharps have wagered can also be instructive for in-game wagering.

Yahoo Sports conversed with several bookmakers over the course of this week, and here is where some sharp action has been (and the numbers it came in at):

  • Browns +4.5, +4 (vs. Ravens)

  • Raiders +5.5 (vs. Bills)

  • Panthers -3 (at Eagles)

  • Bucs +3 (vs. Steelers)

  • Falcons +3, +2.5, +1.5 (vs. Bears)

  • Chargers +7.5, Chiefs-Chargers under 42.5

  • Colts-Titans over 44

  • Eagles-Panthers under 41.5

  • Bears-Falcons over 51

  • Packers +1, Cowboys-Packers over 50.5

Big bets

We'll be keeping track of six-figure (and larger) Week 6 NFL bets from sportsbooks, as well as if they end up cashing.
