Fantasy Football Video: Is Vikings Offense Sustainable If Kyler Murray Misses Time?

A nightmare scenario appeared to unravel early in the Vikings' Week 1 win over the Packers. New QB Kyler Murray was forced to exit the game after sustaining a concussion and did not return. But Carson Wentz came on in relief and Minnesota was able to sustain the offense in a 39-22 victory.

While there were positives in the win, if Murray is to miss time, can Wentz and Justin Jefferson keep the ship afloat? Head coach Kevin O'Connell told reporters Monday that Murray is feeling good and is day-to-day. The Yahoo Fantasy Football crew of Josh Norris, Hayden Winks, Matt Harmon and Ray Garvin discussed the topic on Sunday after all the action.

Winks believes that the presence of Wentz rather than Kevin O'Connell needing to turn to J.J. McCarthy at QB is a much better situation for Jefferson, who had eight catches on nine targets for 92 yards and two touchdowns, most of which came after Murray exited.

With Wentz, the offense should look more like it did when Nick Mullens and Kirk Cousins were under center not too long ago.

While Jefferson was able to get there, almost all of the passing-game production was to the Pro Bowl wideout. Wentz completed just 12-of-19 passes for 133 yards with three scores. A good chunk came on a broken play in which Jefferson scored a 39-yard TD. The rest of the Vikings' pass-catchers were quiet outside of tight end T.J. Hockenson, who had a 4-36-1 line to finish respectably in fantasy. He's looking like a decent TE streamer and could become a weekly play whether its Wentz or Murray at QB.

RBs Jordan Mason and Aaron Jones Sr. combined for 99 yards on 27 carries and two TDs. We could see the two in a split moving forward and used heavily until Murray is able to clear concussion protocol and return. Both backs hold decent flex value in most formats right now.
