The Seattle Seahawks’ third-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, Christian Haynes, was claimed on waivers by the Baltimore Ravens on Wednesday.

Haynes, the 81st overall selection, never caught on in Seattle despite being a widely celebrated selection at the time, and was waived on Tuesday following the acquisition by the Seahawks of Quenton Nelson from the Indianapolis Colts. The UConn guard spent the first two years of his Seahawks career as a backup and rotational piece before getting the chance to start in 2026 for the injured Anthony Bradford.

Even though Haynes started five games during Bradford’s stint on injured reserve, the former Day 2 pick split reps with rookie Beau Stephens, with both providing a mixed bag. Haynes will now look for a fresh start in Baltimore, a team that has desperately chased after offensive line help this season.

The loss of Haynes leaves the Seahawks with Grey Zabel, Josh Jones, Stephens, Bradford and Nelson at guard on the active roster. Seattle will likely look to reshuffle their offensive line after the addition of Nelson ahead of their Monday night game against the Chicago Bears.

UPDATE:

Despite earlier reports that the Ravens had claimed Haynes, the 2024 third-round pick was actually claimed by the Miami Dolphins. At least according to the more recent reports.
