Former Steelers Qb Russell Wilson Interviews For Head Coach Job
Former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson interviewed for the head coach opening at North Carolina State, per Adam Schefter.
“Former Super Bowl champion QB Russell Wilson interviewed today for the head coaching job at North Carolina State, where he played three seasons,” Schefter reports. “NC State now has two former NFL greats who starred there, Wilson and Philip Rivers, as prominent head-coaching candidates.”
Wilson is currently an analyst for CBS Sports on The NFL Today. He joined the Steelers in 2024 after two less-than-memorable years with the Denver Broncos. In one season with the Steelers, Wilson threw 16 touchdowns to five interceptions in 11 games for the Steelers, going 6-5 as a starter before the Steelers lost to the Baltimore Ravens in the wild card round. He then signed with the New York Giants, where he started three games before being benched for Jaxson Dart.
Wilson was a 10-time Pro Bowl selection, nine of which came from 2012-21 with the Seattle Seahawks, where he won a Super Bowl and went to another. He’s 12th all-time in touchdown passes (353) and sixth all-time in passer rating (99.3).
