I thought I had a ton of content to include in the notes, then realized there were just a handful of bullet points to it, so I needed to wait a few days to pad it further. Maybe we’re not so close to the new season as I initially thought.

• Mayor Zohran Mamdani has his own answer to the “King of New York” debate.
• Jalen Brunson, however, wants absolutely no part of that.

“Imagine I get on this call with you, right? I’m like, ‘Yo, no king of New York’s here,’ whatever, whatever. You guys are going to look like, ‘What the f**k, this dude is so self-centered.’”

• NYP’s Stefan Bondy believes Josh Hart and the Knicks remain on track to stay together long term, even if an extension does not happen immediately. He thinks, however, Karl-Anthony Towns’ next contract could become one of the Knicks’ biggest financial decisions. Meanwhile, Bondy sees Deuce McBride as an increasingly likely trade asset.
• Jalen Brunson already has an eye on life after basketball.

“I would coach high school or the pros. I would not want to coach college.”

• Julius Randle says he has no bitterness about watching the Knicks win a championship after his departure. Never stop liking Jules, fellas.
• Josh Hart surely knows who won the Mikal Bridges trade.

• Miles McBride brought the Larry O’Brien Trophy back to his old high school community. Deuuuuuuuuce!!!
• Jose Alvarado is aiming significantly higher than simply remaining a useful Knicks reserve, hunting for that 6MOY award next season.

• Jordan Clarkson has apparently been officially friend-zoned by Bebe Rexha. In a busy week for JC, he also crossed paths with rising tennis star Alex Eala at the U.S. Open, with the two bonding over their Filipino heritage.
• Philadelphia keeps signing superstars, the latest being 7-foot-6 Tacko Fall.
• Kevin Durant has a clear post-playing-career ambition already in mind: running Team USA.
