Full Ceremony: Patriots Introduce First-round Draft Pick Caleb Lomu
Caleb Lomu has finally made his way to New England. The 28th overall selection in this year’s NFL Draft, Lomu arrived at Gillette Stadium on Thursday morning and was promptly introduced to the local media.
And while the timing was different this year — first-rounders usually take the podium the day after they get picked — the ceremony did follow the same procedure. Lomu and Patriots owners Robert and Jonathan Kraft posed for the traditional photoshop with the No. 1 jersey (even though Lomu has already been assigned No. 74) before he answered some questions.

Through it all, the 21-year-old had a tough time hiding his excitement about the opportunity — from joining the Patriots, to blocking for quarterback Drake Maye, to playing under head coach Mike Vrabel.
“It’s all been excitement,” Lomu said. “It’s been all positive. It’s been all super amazing from draft night to this moment.”
Lomu and the rest of the Patriots’ draft and undrafted rookie class will hold their rookie minicamp between Friday and Sunday.
