George Kittle Lands On Pup List To Open 49ers Camp

There's been optimism about tight end George Kittle playing in Week 1 after tearing his Achilles in January, but he's not quite ready to practice yet.

49ers General Manager John Lynch said on Saturday that Kittle will be placed on the physically unable list to open training camp. Lynch said that the team is happy with the progress that Kittle is making and that the tight end is doing "everything possible" to play in Week 1 against the Rams in Melbourne.

Defensive end Mykel Williams (ACL), defensive tackle Alfred Collins (shoulder), and running back Isaac Guerendo (pectoral) are also going to be placed on the PUP list. Defensive end Nick Bosa (ACL) and linebacker Fred Warner (ankle) will not go on the list, which bodes well for their fitness heading into the season.

Lynch also said that the 49ers will sign tight end Tanner McLachlan. McLachlan played in two games for the Bengals in 2024 and spent time on the Chargers' practice squad last season.

The team will waive defensive tackle Evan Anderson and tight end Khalil Dinkins in other roster moves this weekend.
