Georgia Tech Vs. Tennessee Predictions

This is definitely a “my mind is telling me no” kind of pick. Tennessee is the better team on paper and we looked like hot garbage last week. What’s worse the fans and players seem a bit demoralized after that poor showing. That said it was a weird game in week 1 where we played just about as bad as possible and had all luck related aspects of the game went against us with bad ref calls, fumbles due to the weather, and missed kicks. It wouldn’t have taken much to flip that game, which is also the part that eats me up inside. For this game, Key has done a surprisingly good job at playing up against ranked teams and we have seen some good talent from skill positions on the team. If the lines look better we could compete in this game, and if Tennessee isn’t ready for that they could struggle under the pressure as a ranked team. Crazier things have happened, I’m not super confident in this pick for all the reasons the sports commentators have highlighted all week, but it is certainly the one I’m going to hope for. My mind has steered me wrong before when it comes to GT, so I’m going with my gut and saying GT shows up and wins a close one.

Clearly, we sucked last week, no two ways about it. What I do also know is that last year against Colorado, we also sucked and did what we had to do on the final drive to win. Yes there’s offensive line issues and we can’t stop anything on defense for now, but in the grand scheme of things this week 1 performance does not have us in a square that different from where we sat last year, aside from the win column remaining empty. I also know that when a ranked team comes to Bobby Dodd that isn’t the dwags, we usually win under Key.

I have no hope in that this time. I’ve gotta see the offensive line truly stand up and unlock Justice Haynes or else this is gonna be a long, long season.
