Giants, Alijah Vera-tucker Reached An Impasse In Talks Before Former Jet Signed With Patriots

The Giants were heavily in the mix for former Jets OG Alijah Vera-Tucker in free agency.

In fact, sources tell SNY NFL Insider Connor Hughes that there was internal optimism within New York's building on Monday that they were going be able to reach an agreement with the 26-year-old on a deal.

However, the two sides reached an impasse over contract length, and he instead lands with the Patriots.

New England will pay him just over the market-value at three years, $42M.

Vera-Tucker certainly would've been an intriguing high-upside addition to Big Blue's offensive line, but there was also plenty of risk, as he's still yet to play a full season in his career.

The former first-round pick has missed a total of 41 games in his four years as a pro.

Big Blue will now have to turn elsewhere as they look to continue building out that already brought RT Jermaine Eluemunor back into the mix on the first day of free agency.

Hughes expects they'll pivot to three-time Pro Bowler Wyatt Teller, who started 13 games for the Browns last season.
