Greg Newsome II is here to stay.

Nearly eight months after joining the Giants on a one-year, $8 million contract, the 26-year-old cornerback has agreed to a three-year contract extension with the team worth $46 million, including $32 million in guaranteed money, his agency told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Newsome, who was previously set to enter unrestricted free agency next offseason, is now locked down on the GM Joe Schoen's salary spreadsheet through the 2029 season.

Newsome, a former first round pick drafted by the Cleveland Browns in 2021, is finally showcasing what made him such a highly rated prospect at the NFL level. Joining a Giants secondary which had plenty of question marks entering 2026, Newsome won a starting role for head coach Jim Harbaugh and defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson during training camp and hasn't looked back since.

Newsome has played in six of the seven Giants games this season, recording one interception, six pass deflections, and 25 total tackles; his PFF pass coverage grade of 66.1 ranks 37th among 102 qualified cornerbacks.

"I'm excited to start fresh here now and hopefully, we get something done where I can retire a Giant, because that's what I want to do." - Greg Newsome II https://t.co/W3dPJp9ELN
