Giants Hiring Ex-ravens Special Teams Coordinator Chris Horton To John Harbaugh's Coaching Staff: Reports
The Giants are hiring former Baltimore Ravens special teams coordinator Chris Horton, Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports first reported Sunday.
Horton's title with New York will be assistant head coach and special teams coordinator, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.
Horton, 41, reunites with new Giants coach John Harbaugh after serving on his staff in Baltimore as the Ravens' assistant special teams coach (2014-18) and special teams coordinator (2019-25).
Baltimore ranked in the top 10 of yards per punt return (11.1, second), punt returns of 20 yards or more (19, fourth), opponent yards per kickoff return (22.0, sixth) and kick-return touchdowns (three, tied for sixth), according to the Ravens' bio for Horton.
Prior to Baltimore, Horton was a quality control assistant at UCLA.
A former defensive back, he played in the NFL for Washington (2008-10) and was an offseason member of the Giants before the 2012 season.
Washington selected Horton from UCLA with the No. 249 overall pick in the seventh round of the 2008 NFL Draft.
A New Orleans native, Horton graduated from UCLA with a degree in history. He was an All-Pac-10 safety for the Bruins, making the second (2006) and first (2007) teams.
