Like concert-goers pleading for an encore song, the Giants’ starting offense asked head coach John Harbaugh for a shot to finish off a drive that Harbaugh was going to call off after the 12th play moved the ball to the three-yard line on a screen pass to Dante Miller.

It sounded like right tackle Jermaine Eluemunor was leading the movement.

Harbaugh relented, kept the second-teamers on the sideline, quarterback Jaxson Dart called a timeout and then came back on the field to throw a touchdown to Darius Slayton.

“We wanted it,” right guard Francis Mauigoa said. “Because Harbs was trying to save us [wear-and-tear], he didn’t want goal-line stuff. That shows you how tough and what the mentality of the team is. Coach calling the 2s in. We’re like, ‘What the [heck]?’ ”

What’s one extra play on a day when the Giants approached 100 live plays between the first-, second- and third teams?

“They lobbied,” Harbaugh laughed, knowing goal-line situations are scheduled as a big part of Saturday’s practice script. “I wanted it to be done. I cracked and gave them that last play.”

Consider it a reward for the offense, which had its best day of camp.

At least from a passing standpoint, as Jaxson Dart and Jameis Winston combined to throw only four incompletions.

“They executed a lot of plays there,” Harbaugh said. “One thing you learn in those kinds of periods is you get frustrated with a play you don’t make, but on offense you get two more chances.”

The second-team offense finished with a 14-play move-the-ball drive.

The Giants waived/injured CB Jarrick Bernard-Converse, who is dealing with an “ongoing” knee injury, according to Harbaugh.

Center Breiden James was signed to Bernard-Converse’s spot, The Post confirmed, as a quick response to John Michael Schmitz getting “his bell rung” in Friday’s practice.

It is unclear if he is headed to the concussion protocol.

Lucas Patrick, 33, stepped in for Schmitz.

But he has been on IR in each of the last two seasons and overtaxing his workload is risky.

If you thought rookies were going to get a shock to the system about 2.5-hour-long NFL practices in the 90-degree heat, think again.

“This is not really as hot as Miami,” Mauigoa said. “It’s one of the hardest things to survive. Up here, it’s pretty cool. I feel like nothing at all. So, yeah, Miami has done a great job for me.”

And Ohio State product Arvell Reese?

“At O-State, it’s amped up just like this,” Reese said. “If not a little bit more sometimes.”
