Giants Place Cb Paulson Adebo On Ir, Cb Deonte Banks Considered Day-to-day

The Giants placed cornerback Paulson Adebo on injured reserve, head coach John Harbaugh confirmed on Friday.

Adebo sustained a knee injury during New York's Week 1 win over the Dallas Cowboys, a game that saw him play just 10 defensive snaps and allow two receptions for 25 yards on three targets. But the cornerback, who was signed to a sizeable three-year, $54 million contract ($34.7 million guaranteed) before the 2025 season, had seen his stock fall after a disappointing debut year with Big Blue. 

The new regime had moved him down the depth chart, as evidenced by his eight snaps on special teams on Sunday night, his first action on special teams since he played five total snaps during the 2023 season while he was with New Orleans. 

Now on IR, Adebo will miss at least the next four games.

In 12 games last year, Adebo had one interception, 73 tackles (56 solo), with one going for a loss, and eight passes defensed. He missed four games due to a knee injury.

As for cornerback Deonte Banks (calf), Harbaugh said he is being considered day-to-day with the injury he sustained during the Week 1 win. The fourth-year corner was a limited participant in Thursday's practice, but did not participate on Friday. 

This could put Big Blue in a bind for the cross-country trip to play Mathew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams on Monday night, as the other starting corner, Greg Newsome II (rib), was limited in practice for a second straight day on Friday.  

Offensive lineman Andrew Thomas (ankle) and Sisi Mauigola (shoulder), who were both limited in practice on Thursday, were officially listed as limited on Friday's injury report after Harbaugh said the pair were full participants.

Also on the Giants' injury report, linebacker Micah McFadden (neck) and defensive lineman Chauncey Golston (neck) have been limited participants in both practices this week.
