Giants Training Camp, Practice No. 5: Discussion, News, Updates

WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va. — Pads come on Monday for the first time in New York Giants training camp.

“It’ll just change the tempo of the period. Without the pads, you’re not wrapping. We’re not going to be tackling to the ground on Monday. We’ll be doing what we call wrap and release,” said head coach John Harbaugh. “We’re trying to stop the ballcarrier if we can on defense and get the pads behind us on offense, things like that. I’m sure inside will be a little more physical than it is out here without the shoulder pads. It just ramps up just a little bit. But other than that, everything will be exactly the same.”

Fans will not be allowed at practice Monday or Tuesday.

Be sure to come back after practice for a breakdown what happened. Check YouTube for video updates.

[NOTE: The Giants are not allowing live tweeting during practice. We will post pre-practice videos and photos as possible, and get actual practice footage, photos, and information to you as quickly as we can once practice concludes. In the meantime, check our Training Camp Hub Page for coverage you may have missed.]

Positive news from Giants camp: Owner John Mara was at practice most of the week and by all accounts is feeling and doing well.

Mara announced a cancer diagnosis last year. Sporadically attended games and practices throughout the season as he underwent treatment.
