The Jacksonville Jaguars have activated Cole Van Lanen from the Active/Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list.

Hell yeah.

Originally selected by the Green Bay Packers in Round 6 of the 2021 NFL Draft, the Jaguars traded for Van Lanen in August 2022. He played 33 total games (3 starts) in his first three seasons in Jacksonville before starting 10 of 16 games last year.

Van Lanen emerged as a breakout player, finishing 12th among 109 AFC offensive linemen with a 78.7 PFF grade despite playing 40+ snaps at four different positions. The Jaguars inked him to a three-year, $51 contract extension just a few days before the final game of the regular season — when Van Lanen sustained a right knee injury that required offseason surgery.

Fortunately, with Van Lanen now activated from the PUP list, he’s expected to be on track to start in the season opener. He and Anton Harrison will occupy the tackle positions as the Jaguars continue to mix up their interior lineup following surgery for Patrick Mekari and a trade for Daniel Faalele. Beyond Van Lanen and Mekari, the offensive line has also dealt with injuries to Walker Little, Chuma Edoga, Emmanuel Pregnon, and Wyatt Milum.
