It seemed like it was just a matter of time since preseason that this would be the headline.

Now, it is official, as the Arizona Cardinals are placing Jeremiyah Love on injured reserve with his third ankle injury of the season.

Sources: #AZCardinals RB Jeremiyah Love is headed to Injured Reserve because of a high-ankle sprain that knocks him out 4-5 weeks.

There is no way around it, this has been a disastrous rookie season for Love, and it started with the injury in the preseason because Mike LaFleur was going to get him used to getting 15 touches a half, but doing so in his one and only preseason game.

Since then, these have been the touches for Love:

Game 1 – 13 touches 50 yards 1 touchdown
Game 2 – 12 touches 45 yards
Game 3 – 26 touches 109 yards 1 touchdown
Game 4 – 15 touches 55 yards
Game 5 – 12 touches 22 yards
Game 6 – Out injured
Game 7 – Out Injured
Game 8 – 9 touches 23 yards

Tough way to go for a rookie, and not on Love at all, just an unfortunate way to go through a rookie season for anyone, let alone the third overall pick.

Get well soon, maybe we will see you after the bye week, Jeremiyah.
