Josh Allen Throws Interceptions On Consecutive Passes After 195 Straight Attempts Without One

Buffalo Bills star Josh Allen entered play in Week 3 on a lengthy interception-less streak. But Allen met his kryptonite Sunday, and it came in the form of Los Angeles Chargers rookie Genesis Smith.

Smith picked off Allen in the first quarter Sunday, ending Allen's 195-attempt streak without an interception. It was the longest such active streak in the NFL.

Smith read the play — of Allen's eyes — perfectly, jumping in front of the intended receiver to make the play.

The Chargers capitalized on Smith's interception, driving down the field and kicking a field goal to take a 10-0 lead over Buffalo.

That put Allen in a spot he hasn't been in all season: Trailing by double digits.

He responded to that adversity by … throwing an interception on his next pass. This one also wound up in Smith's arms.

This time around, Smith showed off his speed and ball instincts, running with Bills wideout DJ Moore all the way down the field and coming up with an incredible catch for the interception.

It was a shocking start for the Bills and Allen, who dropped 36 points in Week 1 and 41 points in Week 2. Allen played a massive role in the team's excellence, scoring nine total touchdowns in those contests.

But that was before he ran into Smith. The fourth-round rookie had not started for the Chargers during the first two weeks of the regular season. By the end of the first quarter Sunday, he was already well on his way to the finest game of his young career.
