Josh Jacobs’ Initial Hearing Has Been Moved Up By Several Months
Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs was placed on the NFL’s commissioner exempt list before the league’s final cutdowns to teams’ initial 53-man rosters for the 2026 season. The Packers’ brass has stated that they will stand by Jacobs, who is currently set to face charges of battery and criminal damage in Brown County, while the legal process plays out.
On Friday, we learned that the legal process might end up taking less time than we originally thought. When Brown County officially announced what Jacobs was going to be charged with by the district attorney’s office last month, Jacobs’ initial hearing for his case was set for November 17th. According to Fox 11 News, court records now show that Jacobs’ initial hearing has been pushed up to September 10th, just days before the Packers’ season-opening game against the Minnesota Vikings — though Fox 11 News reported that Jacobs is unlikely to make an appearance in court for the start of the legal process.
The outlet received an authorization to appear and act document, which Jacobs filed with the state of Wisconsin on Wednesday, stating that his attorneys can act on his behalf while he opts to not attend the hearing — an option he has since his charges are misdemeanors. Don’t expect a bow to be tied on this case after just the initial hearing, but the legal process does seem to be happening quicker than we originally expected.
